Jupiter Winds by C.J. Darlington

About the Book
In 2160, a teenager becomes the bait to capture her missing revolutionary parents she thinks are long dead.
Grey Alexander has one goal—to keep herself and her younger sister Orinda alive. Not an easy feat living unconnected in the North American Wildlife Preserve, where they survive by smuggling contraband into the Mazdaar government's city zones. If the invisible electric border fence doesn't kill them, a human-like patrol drone could.
When her worst fear comes true, Grey questions everything she thought she knew about life, her missing parents, and God. Could another planet, whose sky swirls with orange vapors and where extinct-on-Earth creatures roam free, hold the key to reuniting her family?

My Thoughts
Having never read a book by this author before I wasn't sure what to expect but after reading the synopsis and hearing the fact that my sister loved it, I knew I had to give it a try. I am so glad I did! This book was so good! I have read a bunch of dystopian books and this was one of the most realistic ones that I've read! I could actually believe that some of the things could happen over time, and not even as far in the future as this book is set!
Grey and Rin (great names by the way) were fantastic characters and I loved the fact that it was told from both girl's point of view. I also loved how close they were and how they always had each others back. The setting of Jupiter was absolutely brilliant and the author did an amazing job of describing it. I felt like I was actually there.
The plot was filled with unexpected twists and surprises that kept me turning pages every spare minute I had, which resulted in me finishing this book in a little more than a day despite having church, a worship night, and work! Everything was plotted out just right to make it all flow yet you never really knew what was going to happen!

In short I absolutely loved this unique novel and my only complaints are that my sister owns this copy so I have to find one for my shelves and that it ended! I really hope there will be more books about Grey and Rin and if not I may just have to hunt down the author and demand more-lol!
