Hope Rising by Stacy Henrie

About the Book
FROM A GREAT WAR, SPRINGS A GREAT LOVE
In France at the height of World War I, American nurse Evelyn Gray is no stranger to suffering. She's helped save the life of many a soldier, but when she learns her betrothed has been killed, her own heart may be broken beyond repair. Summoning all her strength, Evelyn is determined to carry on-not just for herself and her country, but for her unborn child.
Corporal Joel Campbell dreams of the day the war is over and he can return home and start a family. When a brutal battle injury puts that hope in jeopardy, Joel is lost to despair . . . until he meets Evelyn. Beautiful, compassionate, and in need of help, she makes an unconventional proposal that could save their lives-or ruin them irrevocably. Now, amidst the terror and turmoil of the Western Front, these two lost souls will have to put their faith in love to find the miracle they've been looking for.

My Thoughts
After reading and loving this author's debut last year I couldn't wait to read this second book! Thankfully it completely lived up to my expectations and I completely loved it!
I loved Evelyn and Joel so much and I admired how they handled the things they faced. I really liked how they both cared for the people around them, never just focusing on their own problems. They had some very difficult situations that they had to work through but the author navigated them through each with great skill.
The setting of the story was fantastic and I felt transported to another time and place. You could really feel the emotions of everything and I was completely sucked in.
In short this book was fantastic and totally worth a read especially if you enjoy reading about WWI! Sadly my copy was ripped apart by my boss's dog but the author generously sent me a replacement copy!

Thanks for reading and reviewing it, Abbi! So glad to hear you liked it as well as Book 1. Have you seen The Crimson Field? It's about British volunteer nurses at the front during WWI. It was really well done - and made me feel like I was back with Joel and Evelyn as I watched it. :)
