Dangerous Passage by Lisa Harris

About the Book
When two Jane Does are killed on the outskirts of Atlanta, Georgia, detective and behavioral specialist Avery North discovers they share something in common--a tattoo of a magnolia on their shoulders. Suspecting a serial killer, Avery joins forces with medical examiner Jackson Bryant to solve the crimes and prevent another murder. But it doesn't take long for them to realize that there is much more to the case than meets the eye. As they venture deep into a sinister world of human trafficking, Avery and Jackson are taken to the very edge of their abilities--and their hearts.
Dangerous Passage exposes a fully-realized and frightening world where every layer peeled back reveals more challenges ahead. Romantic suspense fans will be hooked from the start by Lisa Harris's first installment of the new Southern Crimes series.

My Thoughts
When I first heard of this book I was intrigued and wanted to read it and then I started reading rave reviews which only made my desire to read it that much stronger! So I was ecstatic when I found out I won it in a giveaway and I was even more excited when it turned out to be just as good as I'd hoped! The only problem I found was that it's the first in a series about the same people and I have to wait until next summer to find out what happens next!
The story was excellently balanced between being a fast paced page turner and slowing down at points to let you get to know the characters. I also think the author did an amazing job of giving enough information to make the story yet leaving many things for the next book(s). I really enjoyed the characters especially Avery and Jackson and I loved how their romance is progressing and I can't wait to see what book two holds! I also really loved the relationship between Avery and her father and their scenes together were some of my favorites in the book.
A big focus of this book was human trafficking, an ever-growing problem in the world today. So many people don't realize how big of an issue this is even within our country and I think this book did an excellent job of showing just how horrible this crime is.

To close, I absolutely loved this book and I could not wait for book two!
