Made to Last by Melissa Tagg

About the Book
Miranda Woodruff has it all. At least, that's how it looks when she's starring in her homebuilding television show, From the Ground Up. So when her network begins to talk about making cuts, she'll do anything to boost ratings and save her show--even if it means pretending to be married to a man who's definitely not the fiance who ran out on her three years ago.

When a handsome reporter starts shadowing Miranda's every move, all his digging into her personal life brings him a little too close to the truth--and to her. Can the girl whose entire identity is wrapped up in her on-screen persona finally find the nerve to set the record straight? And if she does, will the life she's built come crashing down just as she's found a love to last?

My Thoughts
WARNING-I'm about to gush! First off let me say that this book had some very high expectations to meet! It started with finding the author's blog and loving her style and humor, then came the cover and book synopsis which looked and sounded so good, followed by reading an excerpt that I loved, and finally just as I was about to start reading I noticed that my favorite author has written a rave endorsement. So with expectations unrealistically high I dove in, and fell in love. Honestly I don't think this book could be any better than it was! I enjoyed every single moment and finished the book with a big smile on my face that I couldn't seem to get rid of.
The plot was brilliant; a television star with a "secret husband" who doesn't exist, pretends to be married to a man her producer hires, and ends up falling in love with the reporter who is writing about her. When I first heard about the book I thought Randi would fall for the guy she was pretending to be married to (which to be honest is a bit cliche) but having her fall for the reporter was such a better story!
And now for the characters. Randi was awesome. You could really feel her emotions from the pain of being abandoned by so many to her heart for helping those in need. I loved her slightly tomboy personality while still being a girl. Matthew was the perfect match for Randi. He quickly saw through to her real self and didn't exploit that. And his relationship with his deaf niece made my heart melt! And Blake "Blaze" was such a great character! His klutzy blunders and general humorous self had me laughing more times then I can count!
One of the other things that I loved about this book was all the little references to classic movies. Especially how the author used them to create analogies rather than using old cliches.
I could go on about this book for days (and I have, just ask my sisters!) I loved it so so much! I honestly cannot wait till next May when Here to Stay comes out!

About the Author
Melissa Tagg is a former reporter turned author who loves all things funny and romancey. Her debut novel, a
romantic comedy titled Made to Last, releases from Bethany House in September 2013, with a follow-up slated for summer 2014. In addition to her nonprofit day job, she is also the marketing/events coordinator for My Book Therapy, a craft and coaching community for writers founded by award-winning author Susan May Warren.

During her reporting days, Melissa interviewed presidential candidates and llama farmers, rode a hot air balloon and flew a plane, and once found herself face to face with a buffalo. But today she gets her kicks by letting her characters have their own fun. She's passionate about humor, grace and happy endings.
P.S. She's awesome!

I received this book free from the publisher in exchange for my review. I was not required to write a positive review. The opinions I have expressed are my own.
